This online course can help.  Landscaping 101 will not only teach you the basics of the science of landscaping, it will show you how to apply your own creativity to transform your yard into a work of art.

  • Learn how to assess the purpose of your landscape.

  • Learn how to avoid common landscaping mistakes.
  • Learn how to make the most of what you have.

 
This starter course is ideal for anyone -- whether you just want to improve one corner of the yard, or you want to add some flowerbeds or a tree or shrub here and there, or you're starting from scratch with a bare lot and need to learn how to start, plan, and finish an entire landscape.

This lesson addresses how to avoid problems and mistakes while planning your landscape.

Lesson 4: Starting and a Three Year Plan

In this lesson, we will discuss how to get started and a basic three year plan for developing your landscape.

Lesson 5: Planning Specifics

This lesson shows you how to draw up a base plan and landscape plan.

Lesson 6: Estimation the Costs

In this lesson, you will receive a general idea about how much plants, decorative designs, and soil will cost.

Lesson 7: Design for Outdoor Living

This lesson discusses some ways to dress and light up your outdoor living space.

Lesson 8: Outdoor Rooms

This lesson discusses porches and hideaways.

Lesson 9: How to Select the Right Plants and Things

This lesson will discuss how to choose the right garden ornaments.

Lesson 10: Soil and Other Preparations

This lesson explains the properties of soil including pH balance and acidity levels.
